COLUMBIA (WACH) -- "A social event held on or around the open tailgate of a vehicle,” says Wikipedia. This simple definition only touches the surface of the tailgating experience outside at University of South Carolina game.
Every Gamecock home game, (and sometimes when they are on the road) thousands of fans descend on the fair grounds, and every inch of the surrounding area, setting up hours or days before the gates open, to cook, celebrate, and show pride for their team.
At Saturday's USC/Vanderbilt game, the Tyler’s Travels team set out to find some of the best tailgaters at the game.
We stopped by several contenders for our rather un-scientific determination, and found the task of naming just one ultimate tailgate more daunting that we may have planned for. After stopping by the Inlet-Cocks Tailgate, and the We Are Tailgaters spots, we stumbled upon Nate Henton’s Air It Out Tailgate, complete with banners, shirts, plenty of food and even a theme song that Nate was more than happy to sing for us.
