GASTON (WACH) -- Officials say five people have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a Gaston man earlier this week.
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department arrested Charles Carlisle Plumley and Shawn William Sharpe Friday. They're charged with burglary, armed robbery and the murder of 64-year-old Leon W. Justice at his Gaston home Wednesday night.
Patsy Jean Anz, Angela Renee Griffin and Raymond Daniel Plumley, Jr. were also arrested Friday in connection to the crime, according to investigators.
Officials say Justice answered the door of his home on Victor Road around 10:30 p.m. to find two men on the front porch.
A witness, the owner of the home where Justice was staying, says she was in the kitchen when she heard Justice answer the door, saw a flash and heard a gunshot. Shortly after, she saw two men, Charles Plumley and Sharpe, wearing ski masks.
Another witness at the home saw the suspects run to a dark pickup truck and drive away.
When deputies arrived, they found Justice with a gunshot wound to the head, breathing but unconscious.
Officials say Charlest Plumley and Sharpe intended to rob the occupants of the home of crack cocaine and cash. Sheriff James Metts says the two had bought drugs from the home in the past.
The shooting remains under investigation.
