CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley attended a fundraiser in Texas hosted by an insurance company.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Haley and two staff members attended the event Tuesday evening at Irving, Texas, offices of Ethos Groups, an auto warranty insurer. Ethos Group has operated in South Carolina since 2009.
An invitation suggested a contribution of $500 per person to attend the event.
Haley campaign spokeswoman Marisa Crawford says the company likes what South Carolina is doing with its business climate.
Crawford and the governor's chief of staff, Tim Pearson, attended the event.
Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey says they will return Wednesday. Godfrey says their expenses were paid with campaign funds.
