GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Bridgestone is scheduled to make a major announcement at its Aiken County plant.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is traveling to Graniteville on Wednesday afternoon for the jobs announcement.

The company says executives on hand for the investment news will include Bridgestone Americas CEO and president Gary Garfield.

In July, the Nashville, Tenn.-based company announced plans to expand its tire plant off Interstate 20 and add 122 jobs by 2013. No state incentives were involved.

At the time, plant manager John Stewart said that expansion had been in the works for years, and the increasing demand for tires and the Bridgestone brand made the timing right.

The 13-year-old plant currently employs about 930 people directly and contracts with 200 more. It is about 15 miles from Augusta, Ga.
