FORT JACKSON, S.C. (AP) -- A memorial to the 14 Jewish U.S. military chaplains who died while serving on active duty is being shown at the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Center at Fort Jackson.

The memorial was on display Tuesday as part of the monument's tour of 10 states and the District of Columbia prior to its formal dedication at Arlington National Cemetery on Oct. 24.

The new memorial is being located next to memorials at Arlington for fallen Protestant and Catholic chaplains.

Support for the new memorial was organized by the Jewish Welfare Board Chaplain's Council and the Jewish Federations of North America.

More than 300 chaplains and chaplain assistants who gave their lives in military are listed on a memorial garden at the Chaplaincy Center.
