LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Congressman Joe Wilson is no longer in the hospital according to an email from one of his staffers sent to WACH Fox News Friday night.

Earlier this week, Wilson was being treated for symptoms of a chronic viral-type infection at Lexington Medical Center.

His office said last week he was taking antibiotics to treat symptoms of lyme disease.

"I checked on him yesterday afternoon at the house," his son and South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said Monday.  "He is up walking around, is still weak but he is getting better every day and it's just a process."

Wilson cancelled a planned tour of his district earlier this week because of the illness.
