As Hurricane Irene spins at sea, Lowcountry businesses are learning how to prepare and protect their businesses for natural and man-made disasters.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- As Hurricane Irene spins at sea, Lowcountry businesses are learning how to prepare and protect their businesses for natural and man-made disasters.

The Disaster Preparedness Expo is being held in Charleston on Wednesday. The event is sponsored by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.

Speakers and businesses will provide information on preparing and recovering after disasters. The presenters include everyone from doctors and financial advisers to geologists, local emergency preparedness officials and representatives of major companies who will discuss their disaster preparations.
