CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- New numbers show that South Carolina's $14 billion tourism industry is continuing to bounce back from the Great Recession.

Numbers released by the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism this week show that airplane travel to the state was up 14 percent between January and May, compared with last year.

Revenue per available hotel rooms was up almost 8 percent between January and June.

Accommodations tax revenues from the last fiscal year were $44 million -- an increase of more than 11 percent.
