COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- One of President Barack Obama's top advisers is coming to South Carolina to help raise money for his re-election campaign next year.
Valarie Jarrett attends a reception in Columbia late Thursday. It's hosted by Columbia-area Democrats.
Jarrett is a senior adviser to the president who also chairs the White House Council on Women and Girls. She was a co-chair of the president's transition team after his 2008 election and was a senior adviser on the president's campaign.
She has also served in various city government positions in Chicago.
