NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WICV, AP) -- Republican presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman is campaigning in South Carolina, the site of the first presidential primary in the South.

The former governor of Utah plans to tour Boeing's new $750 million assembly plant in North Charleston on Monday. He plans to hold a news conference later.

The company is assembling its new 787 jetliners at the plant. It is the subject of a National Labor Relations Board complaint.

The agency claims Boeing opened the new plant to punish Washington state workers for past strikes and wants the company to return the work to Washington.

Sunday Huntsman attended Congressman Tim Scott's 'First in the South' Presidential Town Hall.

Huntsman was greeted with a standing ovation, as a room full of voters were eager to meet him.

Huntsman said he's looking forward to seeing the scope of the Boeing production.

"First of all, I want to see Boeing's manufacturing might. It's one of the great companies in America. Our country's largest export," Huntsman said.

The battle between Boeing and the National Labor Relations Board is also on his mind. The National Labor Relations Board is arguing that Boeing only established a facility in North Charleston as retaliation for union strikes in Washington.

"I think it's an absolute shame that the president hasn't told the Labor Board to stand down on something that's critically important as SC job creation," Huntsman said.
