COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia church and spiritual leaders are urging the men of the Midlands to take stock of their lives.

First Baptist Church in downtown Columbia is holding a forum Thursday July 28 called "Real Men, Real Talk' focusing on building faith, family and discipleship.

"Our whole point of what we're doing is to get deeper into the soul of a man so someone can lead you," said Jack Easterby, campus director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of South Carolina.  "That leadership comes from your father in heaven."

Athletes from USC are expected to give testimonials as well as leaders from the community at the event that is expected to draw thousands of local men.

Easterby says organizers are hoping to help men become "better fathers, better husbands and better people."

The "Real Men, Real Talk" program is scheduled for Thursday night at First Baptist Church at 1305 Hampton Street in Columbia. Doors open at 5pm and the event is set to begin at 6pm.

All area men who have already registered are enouraged to bring a friend to the event.  To learn more click here.
