LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Officials in Lexington arrested a man Monday who, they say, inappropriately touched two young girls at his home.
Deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department say 63-year-old John Shelby Wells touched the 7 and 8-year-old females while he was taking care of them at his home.
The parents frequently asked Wells to take care of the girls over the past two months, according to investigators. The girls told their mothers about the incident, who then reported it to officials on July 8.
Wells was a registered sex offender after previous convictions in 1992.
Officials are asking any parents who have let their children come into contact with Wells to come forward and call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
