LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) -- A group is donating a tailor-made body armor vest to a police dog in Lexington County.

Sheriff James Metts says Heroes Vest Fund, Inc., on Saturday is donating a vest to a member of the department's K-9 unit. The handoff is taking place at a fundraiser at the Lexington Municipal Complex.

The vests are designed so the dogs can wear them the whole time they are working with their handlers, and Heroes Vest Fund founder Elaine Henderson says each body armor vest costs $2,100. This is the fifth vest donated to the Lexington sheriff's department.
