NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WACH, WCIV, AP) -- "American Idol" is coming to South Carolina to see if the nation's next big thing has been homegrown right here.

Talent scouts will be holding auditions Friday at the North Charleston Coliseum, but no one is being allowed to camp out at the venue.

Wednesday morning thousands of people were already in line to pre-register and pick up a wristband for the North Charleston round of auditions for the 11th season of the popular show.

Registration will run through Thursday. Actual auditions aren't scheduled to begin until Friday.

Antwon Outing, winner for WACH Fox's Palmetto Idol competition, is sure to be at the auditions.

The 2011 Palmetto Idol is...Antwon Outing

“I was overwhelmed,” said Outing, of his new title.  For Outing, a security guard, this was not his first time on the Palmetto Idol stage, appearing for the third time, all wearing the number 57.  “I wanted to be 57 again, so I let people pass,” Outing said.

Outing also competed, while in the US Navy, in Regan Idol, named for the USS Ronald Regan that he served on.  He says that he now “dibble dabbles” in music, calling gospel his favorite to sing, however, plans to sing “Superstar” by Luther Vandross for American Idol producers in Charleston.

According to the American Idol website, wristbands will be distributed from approximately 7 a.m. on Wednesday until 8 a.m. on Friday. Auditioners will not be allowed to camp out. Once auditioners obtain their wristbands, they will be asked to return to the coliseum by 5 a.m. on Friday.

Those who want to audition will need to bring two forms of identification to registration and will meet with show producers to make sure they pass listed requirements.

This is the second time auditions have been held in the area. The first time was for Season 7.

Hopefuls belted it out earlier this month at tryouts in North Carolina. Raleigh's Clay Aiken was a runner-up in the 2003 season of American Idol. Garner's Scotty McCreery captured the 2011 title in May.
