LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) - The Laurens County Sheriff's Office continues to mourn the loss of Deputy Roger Rice, shot and killed in the line of duty last week.

Flags are no longer flying at half staff in the town, but visitors continue stop by Deputy Rice's flower-covered grave site, remembering the fallen officer.

Sheriff Ricky Chastain says that Rice's death still hasn't sunk in for some, but deputies returned to their normal shifts.

"People are starting to get back into the groove to work," said Sheriff Chastain, "moving on, making sure that what Roger died for wasn't in vain."

Tuesday morning, the deputies who were there when Deputy Rice was shot, who are now on administrative leave, will have the opportunity for one on one counseling, as part of a de-briefing process.

Sheriff Chastain says some of Rice's comrades will continue their mourning on Tuesday, attending the funeral of Nicole Kingsborough, who was shot and killed on the same night as Deputy Rice. Her family will also hold a candle light vigil for her at 6 p.m. Tuesday, at her mother's home, at 66 Coleman Rd. in Clinton.
