COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina officials are offering two workshops to help educational institutions and government agencies identify ways to keep down their unemployment costs.

The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce is hosting free workshops Tuesday and Wednesday in Columbia.

The Tuesday session is geared toward reimbursable educational institutions including school districts, while local governments and state agencies are the focus of the Wednesday session.

Local governments, state agencies and most educational institutions repay the state's unemployment insurance trust fund for actual benefits payments made to former employees.

Organizers say the workshops will address unemployment law changes and offer guidelines to minimize costs.
