WINNSBORO (WACH) --  Midlands BioFuels unveiled a new Biodiesel unit in Fairfield County Wednesday.

The Biodiesel Blending Unit will mix petroleum diesel with biodiesel for sale all over the Palmetto State.  The plant is located at 310 South Congress Street in Winnsboro.

Midlands BioFuels co-founder "Bio" Joe Renwick says biodiesel is a major advantage for consumers.

“Biodiesel lubricates the engine which reduces friction which reduces wear and tear which increases the life of the engine as well as decreasing emissions,” Renwick says.

The center has been creating biodiesel for the past three years. Renwick also says the biodiesel they produce is going to reduce emissions in any diesel car by at least 20 percent.

Renwick also says the biodiesel blending skid will supply B5 (95% petro diesel/5% biodiesel) and B20 (80% petro diesel/20% biodiesel) in bulk.
