Semi-truck crash blocks road; kills turkeys in Newberry Co.

NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) -- A wreck involving a tractor trailer and two other vehicles in Newberry County has blocked a state highway and killed hundreds of turkeys.

The sheriff's department reports the crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday on state Highway 34.

About 500 of the 1,000 turkeys on the truck were killed.

The Highway Patrol was investigating the wreck that included a sports car and a pick-up truck.

There was no immediate word on injuries.
