OMAHA, Neb. (WACH) -- SEC rivals South Carolina and Florida are playing for college baseball's national championship.
USC first baseman Christian Walker, who injured his left wrist during his final at-bat in Friday's win against Virginia, is now on the official lineup. Coaches made the call around 7:40 p.m. Monday night before the game.
USC athletics officials say Walker underwent a CT scan and X-ray Monday morning and has a hamate fracture in his left wrist.
The Gamecocks won two out of three from the Gators in the regular season. Ray Tanner sends Forrest Koumas, a freshman from Lugoff-Elgin High School, to the mound for his first ever College World Series start. The Gators counter with their ace, Hudson Randall.
Regardless of who wins the series, the SEC is guaranteed a third straight national baseball champion (LSU in 2009, South Carolina in 2010).
Game 1 of the best-of-3 series starts shortly after 8 p.m. eastern from TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. ESPN televises the entire championship series.
