BLYTHEWOOD (WACH) -- You won't hear Kenny Wardlaw complain about the weather.

Why?  Service calls for malfunctioning ac units are non-stop this time of year.

“I enjoy working with the customers and they are always so glad to see us come fix it,” says Kenny Wardlaw, president of Cool Care Heating and Air.

For more than 25 years, Wardlaw has been repairing air conditioners in the summer and heaters in the winter.

“It is always something new to learn and work on.”

On Friday, Wardlaw battled the mid-90 degree temperatures at a Blythewood residence, but after moving to the home’s attic it went from hot to hotter with the mercury rising to 120 degrees.

Since summer's arrival, Wardlaw estimates Cool Care technicians received hundreds of repair requests.

“We have been working seven days a week since it got here,” Wardlaw says.

To keep repairmen from having to come to your home, Wardlaw recommends changing your air filters on a regular basis.  A dirty filter is the number one cause of compressor failure.

He adds it will cost you almost nothing and it’s also important to maintain your unit every year.

Similar to Mother Nature, air conditioners are unpredictable and sometimes they wear out like Wardlaw, because even he needs a break from his tough job.
