COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia parks and recreation officials are announcing the return of a popular family movie event series.

Movies in the Park begins June 17 and the lineup has been released for the Finlay Park event.

The 2011 schedule includes: 

June 17   Alvin and the Chipmunks         Animation, Comedy
June 24   Dr. Doolittle: Tail to the Chief   Family, Comedy
July   1    Horton Hears A Who               Animation, Adventure
July   8    Ice Age: The Meltdown            Animation, Action
July 15    Nim’s Island                            Family, Adventure
July 22    Space Chimps 2                      Animation, Sci-Fi

Officials say the event is free.  All you need to do is bring a blanket or chair.  Drinks and snacks will also be available for free.

Movies start at dark each Friday through July 22.
