PICKENS, S.C. (AP) -- Pickens County authorities say two people have drowned in separate incidents.

Coroner Kandy Kelley says 40-year-old Wilbur Lee Collins of Easley drowned as he tried to cross the Saluda River about 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Kelley says Collins was with a friend when he went under the water. The friend helped pull Collins to shore. Collins was pronounced dead at the Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Kelley says 52-year-old Horace E Leitzsey of Six Mile drowned about 6:30 p.m. Sunday as he tried to swim to a boat. Kelley says Leitzsey had been camping at Mile Creek Park. The victim was pulled to shore but was pronounced dead at the Greenville hospital.
