As a frontal boundary pushes the state, isolated severe thunderstorms are firing off across South Carolina.  Storms have the potential to cause damage around the area.

The major threats with these storms include damaging winds over 60 mph, small hail and frequent lightning.  The storms have moved in from North Carolina and Tennessee.  One thunderstorm cell that was affecting Charlotte, downed trees for the Queen City.

Thunderstorm chances are highest in the northern and central Midlands.  Newberry, Saluda, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter are the first to experience this activity.

SCE&G reporting more than 4,000 people are without power across the Midlands as of Sunday night.

This latest power outage comes on the heels of Thursday night’s storm where some are still in the process of cleaning up debris.

Storms should begin to fade after midnight thanks to the loss of daytime heating.  However, isolated overnight storms and rain showers are still possible.
