COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Wells Fargo & Co. is hosting a free workshop for borrowers facing financial hardships.
The one-day workshop in Columbia Thursday is open to hundreds of South Carolina homeowners who are Wells Fargo mortgage customers. Wells Fargo says staffers will work one-on-one with customers having a hard time making their payments.
The workshop runs from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel off Greystone Boulevard.
Organizers say they opted to hold the workshop after action by South Carolina's high court. Last month, Chief Justice Jean Toal ordered a stop to all pending foreclosures until the banks and homeowners involved can complete an intervention.
In the first quarter of this year, Wells Fargo says about 93 percent of its mortgage customers remained current on their loan payments. Inside Mortgage Finance says Wells Fargo services one out of every six mortgages in the United States.
