COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Who is Robert Haines?  The 64-year-old New Hampshire Republican has been campaigning in Columbia for more than a month now, and rather unconventionally.

Haines has been seen campaigning around Columbia in a Confederate soldier's uniform, a cowboy hat and sometimes a pink robe-like dress.

William Mancke is the accounts manager at Northbound Design in Columbia.

He says he has had several personal encounters with Haines.

The first time was two weeks ago when Haines stopped by Mancke's office near the State House.

"He had this kind of weird look in his eye. You just kind of got this weird sense that something was off with him," said Mancke.

Mancke says Haines was looking to build a campaign website.

"He was dressed in his Civil War general uniform. Generally people are strange and weird, but they aren’t scary. He was creepy, more kind of scary,” said Mancke.

Haines was turned away, but Mancke says it didn't stop him from showing up again.

"We finally had to ask him to leave the office, because he was showing up on a semi-daily basis," said Mancke.

On Thursday morning, Haines' campaign tour made an unscheduled stop at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Haines was arrested Wednesday for disorderly conduct and trespassing.  Click here to read the full story.

His antics have also been creating a buzz on YouTube and social networking sites like Facebook.

On one site Haines is pictured with college-aged students in Columbia bars.

And while little is known about his platform, or where he will show up next, one things is likely, we haven't heard the last of Robert Haines.
