NEWBERRY, S.C. (AP) -- Newberry County deputies say a body has been found on a remote gravel road in the Sumter National Forest.

Investigators on Wednesday said it will take several days to identify the body and determine a cause of death. Deputies say they are working with authorities in Lexington County to see if the body could be part of a missing person case.

Investigators refused to talk about how the body was found until autopsy results shed more light on what happened to the person.

The body was found about 15 miles northeast of Newberry.
