LEXINGTON (WACH, AP) -- Lexington County sheriff's deputies went to jail to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network.
The second annual Lexington County Sheriff's Department Jail-A-Thon fundraiser was held Friday in Lexington.
Deputies partnered with Wal-Mart for the event.
Jail-A-Thon participants were locked in a restored portable convict wagon while they used their cell phones to solicit donations.
Resident Deputy Nick Parker said this fundraiser goes along with the Department’s mission to enhance quality of life for Lexington County residents.
“We try to do that get in the community do a community event not only enhance their quality of life but show them another side to law enforcement we're not always locking people up we are here to help,” said Parker.
The Children's Miracle Network raises money for hospitals specializing in medical treatment for children and provides financial support for medical care and research that improves the quality of life for millions of children.
