SC NAACP announced this year's Freedom Fund Celebration is set for May 20.
COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Leaders of the SC NAACP have announced this year's Freedom Fund Celebration is set for May 20.
Each year, individuals who've worked hard over the past year in the area of civil rights are honored at the celebration.
This year's theme is "Affirming America's Promise".
"The national organization for 102 years has done pretty much the same, and in spite of our hard work, we still face some major challenges in South Carolina, as well as in this nation," says SC NAACP Executive Director Dr. Lonnie Randolph.
The 2011 Freedom Fund Celebration will take place Friday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
