COLUMBIA (WACH) --  The Lake Murray Jaycees, a non-profit service organization, has teamed up with the Hyatt Place to organize a donation drive for Alabama relief.

Sunday, organizers set up a Pod in the Hyatt Place parking lot off Lake Murray Boulevard to accept contributions.

The Pod will be out all week for anyone looking to donate.

Organizers say clothes, blankets, hygiene products, and household items such as Ziploc bags, liquid dishwashing detergent and paper towels are especially needed.

"There are a lot of children without parents, and there's a lot of families that are displaced," says Michelle Phillips of the Lake Murray Jaycees.  "And we would love to get these toys out to the kids; all these household items out to the families, because right now they really don't have anything.  So, we're just trying to do our part."
