CAYCE, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Ag Council is using its quarterly meeting to talk about expansion at the Port of Charleston.

The council is meeting Thursday at the Farm Bureau offices in Cayce.

Speakers include South Carolina State Ports Authority spokesman Byron Miller and Stephanie Sox, executive director of the South Carolina Soybean Board.

Earlier this month, U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn said long-sought money for a study of deepening the Charleston Harbor shipping channel could be included when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases its national work plan.

The council is also planning to present its Farm/City Week awards.
