LEXINGTON (WACH) -- Lexington County detectives have charged 54-year-old William Russell Constance for the murder of his estranged wife, Margaret Earline Constance.

Georgetown police detained Constance early Tuesday after he was seen driving a car registered to Margaret Constance.

Lexington police say 52-year-old Margaret Constance was stabbed about 25 times Sunday, May 8, in her home on South Lake Drive.

Major John Allard of the Lexington County Sheriff's Dept. says Constance is still in custody in Georgetown, but will be brought back to Lexington Wednesday morning.

Police say they have found the knife used in the stabbing.  The motive for the killing is still under investigation.
