COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Jordan Anderson has dreamed of seeing himself behind the wheel at Darlington one day. 

The 20-year-old Forest Acres native has only had his driver's license for a few years, but he's been racing for 12 years.  He hopes to race his way up the ranks and into NASCAR.

"Racing is just like football or baseball.  You have your farm leagues to work  your way up to gain experience," Anderson says.  "The past two years I have been racing, I ran dirt late models.  That is what guys like Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart, and Carl Edwards ran before making the transition to NASCAR."

This season, Jordan is leaving the dirt and laying down rubber on asphalt with a super late model ride. 

Jordan Anderson Racing will make stops up and down the East Coast, but Jordan hopes last Saturday's visit to Darlington will help him find a way into the driver's seat for a NASCAR team.  Anderson's goal is to start in the Truck Series by the time NASCAR returns to South Carolina.

"I'll be knocking on doors, beating the pavement; that's what it's all about.  Even if you're in the Truck Series and not out trying to find stuff, you're not going to go far.  You know they got the Truck, the Nationwide, and Sprint Series.  I want to work my way up.  I am 20-years-old, so I am not in a rush.  I wanna do it right," Anderson adds.

Once Anderson gets the green light, he plans to be behind the wheel for many years to come.

"I am all about the longevity and want to be in NASCAR for many years.  Being from Forest Acres, there's no NASCAR driver from South Carolina racing today, so I hope I can change that," Anderson explains.

The next time you hear the roar of an engine, keep an eye out for this 20-year-old, because he's not slowing down until he crosses the finish line.
