COLUMBIA (WACH) --Mother’s day is the time that many across the nation remember and honor mothers for their love and sacrifices.
Plenty of people in the Midlands celebrating this holiday with dinner, a movie or just having a moment of reflection. Mothers like Helen Bryant knows about sacrifice and taking care of her family. Everyday she’s faced with deadly decisions as a firefighter. She’s in the line of fire trying to save someone else’s life and balancing time with her son.
Bryant says Sunday is her first Mother’s Day however she’s spending it at work and not with her son. Bryant recalls missing some important mother moments.
“The main sacrifice that I made was missing his first time crawling. He hasn't started walking yet but I missed his first time crawling. He doesn’t say mama but he does say meme which is my mom. You know just having to be away from him all the time and just missing the big stuff. Hopefully I’ll be there for his first time walking," says Helen Bryant.
Bryant says she's missing some of those moments because she has to provide. This is just one example of the sacrifice mothers have to make to better their families.
Happy Mothers Day from all of us here at WACH Fox.
