CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A group of World War II pilots who flew The Hump over the Himalayas between India and China is gathering on the South Carolina coast.
But organizers say Wednesday's gathering at Magnolia Plantation near Charleston might be the last for the members of the Air Transport Command Hump Pilots.
The former pilots are all in their 90s and organizers say it's getting increasingly difficult for them to travel, meet and share their war stories.
Several hundred of the former pilots began meeting after the war. There are only nine still alive and only seven are gathering in Charleston this week.
The pilots flew supplies to help the Chinese in their battle against the Japanese during the war.
The group last met in Charleston 15 years ago.
