COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A national grocery store chain is giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to storm victims across the Southeast.
Kroger is donating $250,000 in cash and other contributions to help relief efforts to those impacted by severe flooding and storms over the past week.
"We hope that providing food and water to local food banks and financial support to the Red Cross will help our associates and customers rebuild their communities in the aftermath of these devastating storms," said Lynn Marmer, group VP corporate affairs for Kroger.
Of the $250,000, $150,000 will go to local Feeding America food banks and up to $100,000 will help match customer donations to the American Red Cross in check-out lines at Kroger stores.
You can help by donating at any Midlands Kroger store.
Meanwhile, the Red Cross says they need volunteers in addition to monetary donations to help disaster victims.
The organization is holding two classes at the chapter office on Bull Street this week to those interested. Register by calling 803-540-1215 or emailing fosterch@usa.redcross.org.
