CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The public is getting a chance to help design a new cruise terminal being built on the South Carolina coast.

The South Carolina State Ports Authority is holding the first of three public meetings Tuesday on the best design for the terminal to serve the state's growing cruise industry.

Some neighbors aren't that pleased with the location of the terminal that is farther up the Charleston waterfront than the existing aging terminal it will replace.

The Historic Charleston Foundation holds a community forum next week on the terminal plans. The foundation has hired a consultant to assess those plans and consider how they affect the quality of life in nearby neighborhoods.
