COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Word of Osama bin Laden's death is welcome news for Irmo resident Dawn Yamashiro. Her brother died in the September 11 attack on the twin towers.
Yamashiro says she was in disbelief when the news broke. Her 32 year old brother, Brain G. Warner, husband and father of two, was in the north tower when the plane crashed into the building.
Yamashiro says she never thought she would see the day when bin Laden would pay for the crime, but now that it's here and although she is relieved, she says, it doesn't provide closure for her.
"I’m happy he was caught, but it doesn't change anything for me because my brother is still gone. It doesn't really provide any closure because he's not coming back. I'm happy he's been caught and disposed of so he can no longer do this to anybody else."
Yamashiro is now helping with the effort to establish a 9/11 memorial in the city of the Columbia. Mayor Steve Benjamin and others are scheduled to kickoff the fundraising effort next Monday.
