COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The killing of Osama bin Laden is especially meaningful to a local Army veteran.

Brian Thomas was serving in Iraq during the late 90's while in Saudi Arabia he caught a glimpse of bin laden.

Thomas says there was information that bin Laden may be planning a terrorist attack, but there wasn't enough evidence to take bin Laden into custody.

"Last night was vindication for myself and a lot of veterans and we were just elated this thing finally came to pass," Thomas said Monday.
