COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S. To change that and raise awareness ladies dressed in red gathered for the annual Go Red for Women luncheon Friday.
Locally, the American Heart Association has raised almost $90,000 to educate women about heart disease.
"This is a celebration of a year-long effort to raise money to assist the American Heart Association in their efforts to develop educational programs and to find a cure for heart disease," says Charlene Keys.
Nearly 2,000 women came out in support of the association's campaign Friday. WACH Fox's Janet Parker helped emcee the event.
