CAMDEN (WACH) -- Eight suspects have been arrested after a drug raid in Camden.

The Kershaw County Sheriff's Department found more than a half pound of marijuana, crack, scales and three guns as a result of a tip from concerned citizens.

When deputies arrived at the home on Gardner Street to conduct a search warrant two suspects fled on foot.  They were later captured and taken into custody along with six others

Two of the suspects were charged with child neglect for exposing a child to drug activity.

“While the quantities of drugs seized were not exceptionally large, this home was a location known in the community for being a drug house and was a concern to the citizens in the neighborhood,” Sheriff Jim Matthews said.  ”As long as we receive complaints by members of the community on drug activity, we will act on those tips and we will put drug dealers, big time or small time, in jail. People are tired of the drug dealing and I am serious about doing something about it."

All of the suspects were taken to the Kershaw County Detention Center where they are awaiting a bond hearing.
