COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A May 6 execution date has been set for a South Carolina death row prisoner who killed his cellmate, then dragged the man's body into a common area and said "this is what snitches get."

Corrections Department spokesman John Barkley said Monday the state Supreme Court has set the date for Jeffrey Motts' execution by lethal injection.

The state's high court ruled last month Motts could drop his appeals and be executed.

Authorities say Motts was serving two life sentences for killing his great-aunt and her husband as he robbed them in their Spartanburg County home for money to buy crack when he attacked and killed his cellmate in 2005.

Investigators say Motts thought his cellmate told another inmate a lie about a knife planted in a cell.
