COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The status of USC outfielder and designated hitter Jake Williams Jake Williams is uncertain.
The junior has been indefinitely suspended from the Gamecock baseball team for violation of team rules.
Cayce officials say 21-year-old Williams served alcohol to two underage males at a post-game party at his home Saturday. Police say he admitted to the offense.
Williams faces over $600 per violation. He is due in court next Thursday.
Head Coach Ray Tanner says he's not happy with the suspension.
"It's unfortunate," he says. "I'm really disappointed we didn't need that situation to arise and that's the way it is. He's suspended."
Nineteen-year-old Thomas Moore, Williams' roommate who is not connected to the team, was arrested when Cayce Police found a marijuana growing system made from a refrigerator at the party. In the addition to the drug charges, Moore has also been charged with underage drinking.
USC Baseball takes on Vanderbilt Friday at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium.
