COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The Dorn Veterans Administration Medical Center in South Carolina is celebrating the work and financial generosity of its 891 volunteers this week.
VA spokeswoman Priscilla Creamer says the volunteers have registered donating a total of 94,088 hours of time this year in order to help its patients and military veterans.
Creamer says volunteers at the Columbia center have opened their pockets as well as their hearts.
Creamer says the volunteers have also donated $310,000 to the medical center in the past year.
A special celebration was planned for Wednesday to honor the volunteers.
