SC House members vote against measure that prevented gov't shutdown

WASHINGTON (WACH, FOX NEWS) -- We’re learning about South Carolinas hand in preventing a government shutdown.

According to the U.S. House of Representatives roll call votes, of the six South Carolina House Members five of them voted against a measure that would have prevented the shutdown.             

Republicans Jeff Duncan, Trey Gowdy, Mick Mulvaney, Tim Scott and Joe Wilson voted against it only Democrat James Clyburn voted for the measure.

The measure stopped the government from shutting down midnight Saturday.

In total 348 house members voted yes and 70 voting no.

President Barack Obama signing a temporary spending bill Saturday.

The measure will allow the government to keep running for another six days.

This giving congress time to sign off on the budget deal that kept them working late into the evening Friday night.

The deal will pay for government operations through the end of the budget year while cutting thirty-eight point five billion dollars in spending.

It was negotiated by President Obama, House Speaker John Boehner, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
