MANNING, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a 9-month-old South Carolina boy and his 59-year-old great-grandmother who were shot and killed in their Clarendon County home following an apparent domestic dispute.
Deputy Coroner Charles Jackson on Thursday identified the boy as Jayden Carraway and his great-grandmother as Maxine Briggs Carraway. Jackson declined to give an exact cause of death because autopsies were being conducted.
Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett says the two were shot with a 12-gauge shotgun and that the boy's father, 21-year-old Justin Jeremiah Johnson, is being charged with murder in the deaths. Garrett says Johnson is also being charged with the attempted murder of the child's mother, 21-year-old Kaisha Tiera Carraway.
Johnson is being held in the Clarendon County Detention Center. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
