LEXINGTON (WACH) – Lexington Police say they have found a stolen ATM machine Monday, along with the truck that was used to transport it.
Lt. Matt Davis says officers discovered the truck on Corley Mill Road with the money missing from the machine.
The two suspects remain on the run after using a forklift to remove the ATM from the First National Bank of the South on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Police were alerted when the ATM alarm went off.
Video surveillance from the bank shows two men loading the ATM into a stolen silver Dodge Ram. The forklift was stolen from a construction site at the Northside Baptist Church. The truck was taken from the Lauren Ridge Apartments.
Georgetown County officials want to find out if there is any connection to a recent ATM theft in the Grand Strand. The sheriff's department says the two crimes may be connected and investigators will be contacting detectives in Lexington to compare notes.
In the Pawleys Island incident, a thief also used a stolen forklift to load an ATM machine into a truck.
