COLUMBIA (WACH) - A rezoning hearing requested by a developer who wants to build a rock quarry near Columbia has been postponed.

Director of Sustainable Midlands Ryan Nevius, who opposes the quarry, says landowner William Gregg wants to build the 300 acre quarry on land between the Congaree River and Bluff Road.

County staff delayed the original rezoning request in December.  Nevius says she's not sure why the request was delayed this time.
