HOLBROOK, Ariz. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies in eastern Arizona say they arrested two men after finding a large amount of heroin in their car during a traffic stop on Interstate 40.
Navajo County sheriff's Lt. Randy Moffitt says 22-year-old Charles L. Meyers of Moncks Corner, S.C., and 50-year-old Bronx, N.Y., resident Rene A. Garcia are being held on various drug trafficking charges. Deputies found 4 1/2 pounds of heroin in their Lincoln sedan after stopping it west of Holbrook late last week.
Moffitt says a drug-sniffing dog found the drugs in a backpack in the trunk.
Meyers and Garcia are each being held in the Navajo County jail on $200,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if the men had lawyers.
