Services held for Lexington grad, soldier who died in Afghanistan

COLUMBIA (WACH) --Funeral services for a Lexington High School graduate who died while serving in Afghanistan were held Friday.

The service for 19-year-old Pfc. Kalin C. Johnson began at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lexington.

A burial followed in Bush River Memorial Gardens.

The Defense Department said Johnson died March 8 in Kandahar province of injuries suffered in a non-combat accident.

Johnson was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

Thursday, a visitation for Johnson was held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington from 5 to 7 p.m. 

The Department of Defense has not released any further details about Johnson's death.
