MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- The mother of a boy charged with wounding an Horry County school police officer and bringing pipe bombs to school has asked a judge to keep her son's case in Family Court.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports the mother told Family Court Judge Georgia Anderson on Wednesday that her son had been bulled by other classmates and had a fight with his father the night before the incident last September at Socastee High.

She urged the judge to give her son another chance at life.

The teen's attorney also said the boy had never been arrested and deserves a chance to be treated in juvenile facilities.
